GTA Turbo top engine loom

Postby clee » Thu Jan 16, 2014 2:22 pm

Seems to be two types for the later cars and guess what ...I have two 'wrong' ones ......
The one I need has a white multiplug at the ecu end .The ones I have are missing this with only 3 plugs for connection to main loom .....must be they altered it at some point and I have a mix of both in Slumdog ....Goes to ECU and ig module so .......
Will grab a pic to help explain but if anyone has one please let me know ASAP .

Here is another picture (item 220)....from the electrical Manual (87-88 version) dated feb 88...not sure if this picture helps...looks to be the right type of "top engine loom"

Yes that's it .You can see where it goes into the main loom .This is what came out , albeit fried in the bay ..... I have just found a suitable main front to rear loom but loathed to take it all out ...other option is I rewire one of the other top looms to suit .I have the white plug on my black turbo and JIL and got a white plug off something else :up so just a case of tracing back to ECU plug ,chop out existing and installing the white plug .......................... :up

I blame the parts supplier, dodgy geezer has supplied late wiring looms for an early car!

Like you say I reckon it's either chop or replace the whole lot which would be a pita.

Don't know of any others I'm afraid. :(

Thinking on, Clee try Rhys as he I think has an early engine and got a replacement early engine too. If that came with the loom he might have one spare...

Thanks.....I took a look in parts book....
There are loom diagrams for....
1986
1987-1988
1989 onwards
Each with 1 or more possible part numbers...
The 1987 1988 could have 2 different variants, and also the 1989 has 2 options.
This is a 1988 (registered) and given the electrical wiring diagram is for a 1987/1988..it must be one of those I suppose (like the other e reg black car lee mentions with the white connector)

(Mr dells cross bolt block (that i nearly bought for this) had a loom ..but this could be a 1989+ one...the photos show some connectors..but not clear ??)

I thought Filipo has a breaker (near me).maybe another option...not sure what is in that one. I'll check ..

Ps...the very early type, and the late d502 might even be in stock..no such luck with the 87/88 variants

After a meet up with Mr Dini (thanks !!)...the e reg breaker seems to have what we need....good..may need to wait a week or two as he wants to fire up the engine and have a listen. To be honest if the engine fires it tells me the loom is indeed good...so maybe no bad thing !!! Negotiations are underway ;) I sense this might be costly.... :D
The alternative without the loom is some splicing which scares me a little...so this loom is clearly best option...
