Morning guys...
I have some bad news....
Over the past few weeks I have been emailing George ( The ex owner of this Yellow A610 ) about his Orange A610 that he exported to Cyprus, I was asking him about some of the modifications that he has made to it, etc etc
Well too cut a long story short, with me chatting to him about it, I sparked some interest in him, to look at his, even tho it had not been used, or moved in five years!!
This is a quote from one of his emails...

***Quote***
After your email I thought I would see if I could get mine on the road it's bean standing for 5 years out side my flat I did get it started but breaks were very sticky any way I took it for a run round the block but I had a problem the oil feed pipe to the turbo broke and put oil ever the hot engine and court fire burnt the car out bit of a problem as no road tax mot or insurance its a right off a bit of a shit so make sure you check that pipe on yours good luck.George

***end***
Gutted to say the least!! I felt quite sick!! If I had not got his interest going the car could still be fine.. but PLEASE if you have a car that has stood for any length of time, PLEASE be careful and check out things like the oil pipes, or even better get someone like "RATS" to check it over.. These cars do not like standing...

Its a sad day!!

Hi Vince Well am very lucky I got the car back home on Sunday it's not as bad as it looked I cleaned it all down the main damage was the vacume pipes I am going to fix it sorry for worry you but when it went up it looked bad and I did not take a proper look as I was pissed off I just left it there it was only when I got it back home that I had a good look it took the cables out and the pipes so I can fix it I will keep you informed thanks for your concern .George

**end**

So fingers crossed, Lets hope he gets this sorted...

Yes leaky oil pipes and old turbo engines don't mix.

That's why I took my car basically off the road until the leaky oil cooler pipes were fixed/replaced.

Had exactly the same thing on my old 21 Turbo Quadra, that was after we replaced the oil feed with a newer looking pipe. Turns out there was a faulty batch from Renault themselves so you can't really win unless you replace with bespoke ones I suppose.

Another string to the RATS bow possibly as a service?

Yea I know about those oil pipes on the Renault 21 turbo!!!! Andy the painter let me borrow his to get home in when he painted my a610,got all the way to Gloucester junction on the m5 and the car just went straight up!!! It was very bad!! Oil pipe to the turbo split, and that was the end of that. Better have a look at the Venturi while I think of it!!!!! :?

Mmm I know of a few 21's that have died due the exact problem above ...the problem became apparent and owners changed the flexy oil feed pipe only to have the new one fail!! My car is a phase 1 and she still has her original feed fitted!! I believe this only occurred to phase 2 and 3 models and Renault actually recalled the cars back in recent years following many many complaints!!

Best option that a lot of 21TOC members undertook was to have a custom made oil feed made up..dont trust a OE replacement it may be old stock..try a well known source for manufacture that's what i'll do before mine goes back on the road ;-)

ps thats not to say phase 1's are safe now either!!!
