Interesting reading there john.
I spoke to the manufacturer about using this. They told me it would not be a problem as long as you completely flush out the old fluid as this will remove the water. As it's non hydroscopic no further water will be sucked in to the solution. It's been in my car now for a few years no problem. Hi Spec the brake people felt it was not an issue either.

But had I read that article firstly I may have thought about it more.
All I can say is that when I used to use the standard fluid on a hot day with spirited driving the pedal would lose pressure resulting in the inability to change gear. So I had to bleed the system at least every other year. The silicon solved that instantly. However I do not know about abs seals but I thought silicon was a lubricant so surprised to hear that .
If anyone is in doubt ring them they are very happy to chat.
You also have to turn that article on its head to yes water will vaporise causing issues with braking and clutch, but there will be more in a non silicon brake fluid as it absorbs moisture constantly causing the problems, we are discussing here.

They don't recommend it though.

If you have working abs ATE SL6 is the fluid of choice.

If your abs is broken or you don't have abs use ate super blue as boiling point is higher.

Steve,
I spoke to them when they checked over my brakes at their workshop and stopped the leaks,
They said to me no problem with silicon fluid lots of there customers were using it.

I'm not on any commission haha the only downside is availability and expense.

But as I say had I seen that article beforehand I may not have used it.
But it's been in my car now since Macon in 2011 with no problems.

I certainly am happy with it and will not be going back to regular stuff.
But each to there own. If we stuck to tried and tested stuff we would still be using a horse and cart. You can't stop progress haha well let's hope not..

Just been reading up on dot 5 silicon, a lot of reviews mention pedal feels spongy.
I have not experienced any of that. But there is a lot of bad press or hype.
Could just be advertising from third parties! Who knows.
But they do all say as Steve mentions above not good for ABS not sure why though.
However on a gta where the slave clutch cylinder is right next to turbo, I know which I prefer.

Looks like I didn't update this thread back in the day. Well for reference I used the ATE Blue that Steve recommended and I didn't have any clutch issues at all after that.

Actually got the same fluid in my current 610 and the clutch pedal seems fine so far touch wood.
