WANTED: A610 Aircleaner case bottom.

Postby SteveC » Sat Jul 12, 2014 4:44 pm

Hello,

I need a new removable bottom for my airfilter can on the A610. Does anyone have one I could buy please?

I've not tried Renault yet.. I suspect that would be a fairly fruitless exercise or are they still quite good for obscure plastics?

Thank you.

Hi steve,
The base is apart of the replacement air filter... IF you can get one you will notice that the filter has the end cap attached. I am trying to remove the old filter from my one so I can add another type of filter, as I find it a pain in the ass to get a standard one plus they are not cheap!!

The Renault Part number for the filter, with the base plate, is :- 6000 008 185

Hope this helps...

Thanks Vince.. I had my head under the back of mine yesterday looking about and realised I had no filter fitted! Looking on Euro carparts website they list filters but don't look to have the end cap. Ill get on to Renault then..

Im realising as I go that not much is going to be cheap with this car! :?

Hmmm. I reckon that will be sat on the previous owners workbench.....

Check with Mr Dell but I think it's unavailable.

Funnily enough my A610 breaker had it missing too. I don't think the GTA one is the same but might be. Sorry I can't be of much help with this one.

Martin,
It might not be the same but could you not replace the whole cartridge.
I.e swap the 610 filter housing in entirety with the gta one?

I haven't got one though I chucked mine a few weeks ago.

The GTA filter is shorter and has no base plate... I know that "Mellow Yellow" did something different maybe when he reads this he could enlighten us???

Vince, point taken but as long as you swapped the connecting pipe to, I would imagine the intake from the wing is in the same place, so it should be interchangeable.
But maybe not you would have to try I suppose, but on the gta one you have a rubber pipe at both ends one to turbo and one to filter so room for adjustment.
But if it comes with the filter, it should come with the euro parts one to, so might just be as well to order. You can always say no wrong part mate.

Ok... Just had a look at both my GTA and the A610 filter casings.... Yes I suppose you could swop out the A610 one for a GTA one, but you would need to do a little bit of fitting, as the bolt holes and fittings don't match.. but then again anything is possible. like the BiTurbo... its just if you want to go down the modding road... It always starts somewhere... and usually never stops..... you know that well Dave LOL

Haven't done anything different with the air filter other than use a green performance filter. The casing is original 610. Only GTA thing on my car is the battery tray as the 610 one was rotten.

So, an update on this.

The Air cleaner case lid doesn't come with the filter at all, the image above is slightly misleading showing them together but the parts labeling clearly links it with the rest of the case.

They aren't available as has been said so I tut loudly to whoever it was in the past that decided it was best off not fitted to the car. :down ;)

I have got all Blue Peter on it and made a cap for it myself and ended up pretty pleased with the end result if I say so myself. It has a good positive seal internally with the end of the filter element, and also with the end face of the filter housing and fits securely to the case using the original clips. So, at least im running an air filter now. Shame that it wont pop and crackle quite so much now on overrun, but it's not supposed to so its a loss ill have to live with.

I've had a good look at the compressor blades in the turbo and they all look clean and in good condition, and we know the rest of the engine seems to be in good order so I don't think any real damage has been done running without that filter.. which is good news.

Ok I was changing my air filter on the A610 so I thought I would add a little to this thread..
This is a photo of the old one...
IMG_2132.JPG

The filter element is defiantly attached to the cover. Note the black sealant/glue on the inside of the filter at the base of the unit.
IMG_2131.jpg

I was in luck, as I managed to prise the old one from the cover with a screwdriver...
IMG_2136.jpg

I got a washable replacement from ebay:-

Yes it is a reusable one!

I have not glued the new one in place, as it fits nice a snug in the case, This will help when I next need to clean and re-oil it.
Ok I hope this helps someone along the line.
