Clio V6 "L Engine Manual"

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am the proud owner of a Reaultsport Clio V6 engine which I will be fitting to a project car. However I do not have a workshop manual for the engine.
I have tried the Technical section but the manuals attached are not complete. Do you have the full engine manual for this motor?
Can anyone out there help?

Have you tried v6clio.net?
Not certain it's on the site but would be surprised if it's not.

Clio V6 L engine manual.

The project car is a Renault 5 Turbo 2 which is being restored very slowly. I was not too keen on fitting the original engine because it is very expensive/difficult to build a reasonably powerful and reliable unit. Besides a V6 should sound very nice. I have checked it will fit. It is about the same length but wider across the heads. However it does not need all of the ancilliary bits associated with the turbo unit, just exhausts and throttle bodies. The bellhousing is a one off which has to be made to mate the engine to the original box. This has a 6 speed, close ratio gear kit installed. If you know something I don't about bell housings let me know.

if you dont mind me saying, I dont think this motor is a wise choice for this car for the same reasons it doesnt quite come together in the Clio itself.
Surely a lighter, more modern 4 pot turbo would be the way to go?

I heard rumours you can pick up a dialogys disc from Ebay that will have the full Renault service manual on it, not that we condone the use of pirated software of course. Not sure there is much else out there.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

I have a fibre glass mold of the bell housing for that engine to the UN1 gearbox.

Sounds fun to me, and what the hell it is going to sound amazing! :-)

However technical we can get about all of this stuff, at the end of the day it has to satisfy our emotive need, and if this particular engine does it for you, great! Pity you haven't gone for the old PRV but that's my Weird Science bias, doesn't need to be everybody’s, and good on it. I've been introduced thanks to John Lane to a chap that is now into PRVs (well A310, the PRV just came along for the ride), and my first love the Fiat SOHC in an Dallara X19... how great is that another SOHC and PRV nut (note the order I put those in, wink), and apparently there is another with an X19 and 310 in the stable.. so there will be friends in heaven after all...

Good stuff I like it, as other's have asked, please keep the thread going, or put up a project thread and post up progress and pictures for the masses :-)

Martin,
I can understand where you are coming from. I have a sound recording of a Metro 6R4 rally car going through its paces on a stage. To me it is just magical. Perhaps I can get this to sound similar.
Regarding PRV engines my son had an Alpine for a while with one of these engines and that was also very nice. To me it was sad that he got rid of it but it needed a lot of restoration and he could not afford it at the time. I will post some pics when I have done a bit more work.

Ray, I'm with Mark on this one. We both have Clio V6s and they are a great car but they do have a high CoG. and it's not a light engine either.
The R5T2 was twitchy as original, so putting big a V6 in it doesn't sound like a great idea to me.

Have you thought about a 21 Turbo motor or a Megane 225 motor.
They can both easity get better BHP and (I beleive) are much lighter.
And the 21 motor should be an easy fit.

There are a few guys looking at replacing the V6 in the clio with other engines (various including a VAG 1.8T!) for the joint benefit of lower weight and/or higher BHP.

Ray, well I'm sure you can make it sound magical, but it won't be quite the same as the 6R4 thoroughbred engine - s eex on a stick in my opinion, is that engine was an odd-fire arrangement, so will sound quite unique.

Something you may be interested in, I have the exhaust headers (3 into 1) off a 6R4 International, and they are the same bore spacing as a PRV, so may be similar to yours?

Anyway, as everybody is getting technical on here, I guess I had better ask what your intended application for the car is, as this will really determine what advice should apply. :)

Gentlemen,
Having done quite a lot of work on my Turbo 2 I have come to the point where I cannot bring myself to spend what is required to finish it as a nice road car. I did not fit the V6 because, as one or two mentioned, it is to big and heavy in such a small car. The 2 litre F2 engine would be more appropriate. The car is now being finished by John Price as a classic rally car.
Having sadly sold my beloved T2 I now have a very low mileage Spider to play with. This already has a more modern engine which will be tuned a bit to extract a little more performance. I am looking forward to some cleaning and polishing rather than the reconstruction that the T2 required.
