Hi Martin,

Sorry I can't help at the moment as I am soaking up some sun the other side of the pond at the moment and ..... I know, a bit remise of me ..... but I did not bring my manuals with me . :( :( :(
As soon as I get back home in the second week of December, I will only be too pleased to get in touch and see if I have what you want.
Hope you can wait till then.

Hi Martin,

Having arrived back yesterday PM jet lagged, I thought I would see if I still had the pic of the conductor ratings in my Photobucket library, but whilst waiting for it to update from page to page, I kept falling asleep ....... I eventually found in on page seven. :yawn :yawn :yawn .
Anyway, I think this is what you wanted.

With regard to your voltage drop issue ....... I have electrical manuals for each model year of these Alps, and there are changes in each year but not necessarily in the area you are interested in, but it would be worth letting me know which model year you Alp is and I will also check to see if there is any changes either side of yours in case, say, yours was registered in, January but was a previous the model year .... and conversely registered in December ... so to speak.
When you say "OEM Renix ignition coil pack box" ....... Please excuse my lack of knowledge of these Turbo's ...... is the coil pack made by Renix as well as the ECU, or are you bundling the two together ?

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply to my question. :up
But with regard to the rev counter ...... the only experience I have (which is limited though) is for the Atmo, where a feed is taken off the switched side of the coil which produces 3 x 12v pulses per rev which is sent directly to the rev counter via pin 1 of the large connector, top left of the speedo unit, which portrays that in RPM.
Now when it comes to the Turbo, it appears, from the manual, that the same pin 1 of the large connector gets a signal from what the manual calls the "AEI Module". Now I don't know what type of signal that is, or how many pulses per rev it produces .... or, in fact, if the actual Rev Counter in the Turbo has the same electronics as the one in the Atmo.
It might be worth just touching pin 1 on the connector with your 5v pulse train, ..... whether or not 5v is sufficient to trigger the rev counter I do not know, but it is worth a try. Of course .... if the rev counter is the same as the Atmo one, which required 3 pulses per rev, it would lead to inaccurate readings if your pulse train is one 1 per rev. But that would be my starting point.
Not a great deal of help, but something to think about. :)

John

PS.
I've got volt drop issues on my turbo OEM Renix ignition coil pack box thingy... can you please post up the wiring to this,

Are you still after the wiring info for your "ignition coil pack box thingy" .... if so, let me know what model year we are talking about and I will post the relevant circuit ...... if you think all the model years are the same, I will post up the 1990 one. :up

PPS.
On second thoughts ..... is this any good for you.

Tony Smith or Rupert might have some input on this front .The atmo to espace efi job I did for Tony went with a non working rev counter but has since been sorted I believe with Rups input .

Martin ...... I doubt if you will need a pull-up resistor if you still have an AEI (electronic coil driver) fitted.
Item 208 is the AEI unit in the manual, and if you follow the lower pin C of its 3 pin connector through connectors R5 and R173, you will arrive directly at pin 1 of the large connector LHS of the instrument unit.. That connector lies just above number 380 on the circuit.
From your original question, I rather assumed, due to some modification you had made, that you no longer had the AEI tacho feed and were looking for an alternative source to feed the rev counter hence my rather complicated reply. ;) .

John,

I have the AEI, but not the integral coil fitted anymore... so I have lost the "pull up" impedance to +12V it once provided, and consequently the tacho drive I'm pretty convinced  . I can check it out next time I'm over to the car. If the rpm meter needs the ringing provided by the switched coil then I'm stuffed...

Thanks,
Martin
