With Regret!

Hi Guys,

With regret I'm gonna have to sell my car. Some of you already know the car, but for those that don't it's a really nice '88 GTA Turbo with just over 90k miles in Stratos Blue with black leather, on 17" Azev As, lowered on GAZ coilovers, with a Le Mans rear grille and a Paul Sage stainless steel exhaust. It also has the original car phone!! The only other mods are clear side repeaters and a Bailey DV24 dump valve. The gearbox was rebuilt be Richard (Simonsays74) less than 1000 miles ago, and the clutch was replaced at the same time.
The structure in perfect, cosmetically 95%, mechanically 95%. Some minor things need attention, but aside from that it's a really nice example.
I also have two sets of original turbine wheels (one set with good tyres), and the original headunit if required. It's currently got an Alpine (what else???!!!) DVD headunit in it, which isn't included in the sale, but can be negotiated.
The problem is I have no idea what it's worth for selling. It's insured for £9000 agreed value. Any help??

Oh, and I'm the second owner of the car (if you don't count the dealership who registered it as a demo). I've owned the car since 2004 and it breaks my heart to sell it, but I live in China now and they won't let me import it cos it's too old.

Honestly I have no idea. Somewhere between £2000 and £8000 I suppose.

How much MOT has it got, and more importantly any rot underneath? I'm not showing interest just trying to assist.

If you are in China surely the trick here is to get Richard involved and get it sorted then sell it on your behalf? I would try and wait for the spring though as it's just not the time of year to be selling a plastic uber rare sports car.

No rot at all (subframe sorted by Richard when gearbox done), and no MOT right now, but easily sorted. Requires nothing for MOT. I'm actually home right now, but going back to China next week. I could probably have a years MOT on it before sale if necessary.
Like I mentioned, structurally it's virtually perfect.

What's sadder and most people won't know is that Liam was the first paid up member of RAOC other than me and Sarah all those years ago. 003 if I remember rightly!

If you're intending coming back to UK then can you not put it into 'storage state' or find another member who'll look after it ?

I'm gonna be over there for at least a few years and it would be a shame for it to not be used and enjoyed. I could also do with the money! Lol
