Newbie Hi

Postby scooby » Sun Jan 18, 2015 6:56 pm

Just joined and an all time Renault Fan. I have had all Renaults from a 14 ,11s, Safranes and a one off 21 Quadra hatch. Currently running a standard Clio ,19 16v Exec and a 3L V6 Avantime. Now starting the search for my ultimate Renault now that £ are more available. Over the next 2 years I want to source a GTS V6 Turbo or the A610 model. What is the best the older one or the facelift ? as I like the newer one on looks but prefer much Retro............46 yrs old but a nut at heart. My Avi is pride and joy at the mo as its a one off. The 19 is my winter car as the Avi gets sorned during our crappy winters. regs Sc

Welcome Scooby.

Firstly where are you based? We have a meet in south Manchester next Sunday which you are welcome to come to and have a mooch at the different models.

GTA and A610 both great cars. GTA is much better value in my opinion although I prefer the A610 as I feel it's has a better build quality and quicker in standard guise.

Good ones are becoming harder to source as people are keeping hold of them. Good luck with the search.

Just outside Glasgow. Going to trawl for a time as iv done in the past to make all the boxes ticked. Big Avi fan and now want an Alpine too. I cant make the meet yet but will do soon when the Avi is back on the road. Much research to be done but will be an owner this time next year or earlier...regs sc

Welcome here...good to see you on another forum. Your current Avantime is a cracker..I was half tempted...in the end I sold my Avantime in the summer..but still visit the avantime forum from time to time...I think I made comment on your Renault attire last week.
Any type of alpine will be fun..very different driving experience...I would not worry about which type...each are great in their own way..
Try each type if you can and see what tickles you...the "for sale section" on here always has some leads and comments on cars for sale.
The "your cars and projects" section will give you a feel for what to look out for when buying a car.. I have seen a couple for sale in Scotland at the minute..
The professionals sometimes have leads on cars for sale..either direct or their clients...e.g. Lee Crowston, John Law, Chris Rabbetts, Paul Sage...or can take an unloved example and bring it back to life. They are all some distance ..but Lee from RATS (Clee on this forum) is you nearest. I don't know there is an alpine specialist in Scotland.

Winter is often a good time to buy.....gives you a chance to get it fettled for the 2 days of summer...but they do like to be used regularly.

Good luck...

I will be putting my GTA Turbo up for sale once, I have finished the A610.... But I don't think that will be for some time, as I am on the waiting list to get the A610 sprayed, and no sign of that for a few months!! I just don't feel right having two Alpines!!

Thanks for all the advice and the welcome. I shall begin the hunt but in no rush as this mission is a long term desire since a kid. The alpine is such a sleek and stunning car. My Avi is rare, the 19 16v rarer now but I have never seen an Alpine up here.Im aware of a few owners from buying my old cars over the years but never got to look at their pride and joys. I shall visit regularly and update as my circumstances have changed and can now consider such a car that doesn't have to be a daily driver. Many regs and best wishes. Sc
