Upcoming Updates.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a new update released for the phpBB software that the site runs on.

Fortunately, we did not immediately update to the new version, as there were some bugs that were found shortly after its release. These seem to have been patched now so, over the next couple of days, we will be taking a backup of the site and transferring it to our testing server to test that the updates work will with the modifications we have in place.

If all goes well, we will then perform the updates on the live site as well.

The testing should not cause any issues, however as we perform the backups and transfers, some users may see longer than usual load times for a few minutes.

Once we are happy that the updates work well, we will then close down the site for an hour or two while we perform the final updates. We will however update this thread with details of the outages and give as much warning as possible before closing the site.

Hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience.

After some successful testing, we have decided to perform a minor update to the forum software tomorrow (Tues, 17th Feb) ahead of a more major update next week.

This minor update will require the forum being offline for a few minutes while it is underway and during this time you may see an offline message.

We will attempt to perform the update at a time when the board is generally not getting much traffic, but if you do happen to try to access the board while the updates are underway, please give us a few minutes before trying again.

A more major update is also available, however it is slightly more involved, and we will need to test it more extensively before updating.

I will update this thread with more information when we are ready to perform that update.

The minor update has been applied successfully however you may not notice any new functionality until the major update is completed.

Before releasing the update, we did attempt to thoroughly check it on our testing server, however if you find any errors or issues, please let us know.

Just a small detail .... since the recent update, the PM drop down box is not functioning, but the email indication of a new email is working.

Yea I have noticed that the pop up is a little "hit and miss" with some members.. I think it is all the way we have the browsers setup..
Not sure why it has changed for you??? but at least you have some indication.

Just a quick notice, to let you know, that the company we have our server with, is going to be upgrading the server we host the club site on. This is for additional security measures they are implementing. This means that the site maybe off-line for a while next Sunday ( 7' March ).
If you see the site is down, please don't panic. I will be monitoring this and hope the upgrade will be quick!
