Is this an age thing

Postby PaulC1959 » Fri Mar 20, 2015 12:05 pm

Is it just me or are others out there starting to feel a shift in the force???

As I get older I am now beginning to look at A310's and think, "Oh do you know, that looks nicer than a GTA" :o

I need to know, am I alone in this, have I been seduced by the "Dark Side", or do I need to seek medical assistance? :(

All of the above.

I was off sick with flu the week before last. I ended up on the sofa watching The Professionals and thinking the Capri and Escort both looked good.

+1...........four cylinder six light model wanted..........must be extremely sick/rotten to satisfy my welding cravings..........I'd paint it copper/metallic brown or metallic turquoisey blue seventies style.
Just bought a '78 big aircooled Suzuki GS so I'm into seventies mode ........
Any A310 owners fancy a nice pearl white freshly restored GTA Turbo........cash my way.....perhaps...I think...should I? :thinking

Nice to see the A310 finally getting some real appreciation.
Just a shame this didn't happen a few years back to stop so many A310s going back to the continent at what they considered 'give away' prices.

Still think GTAs look much better than 310's but can't deny an early 6 headlamp one in a suitable 70's hue is quite appealing - thinking metallic brown or that green like Shaddys old one. Worth much more than GTAs now in similar condition. Definitely feeling an early 928 like you Phil - good time to buy too - prices about to rocket.

Yes the 310 is tempting, would sell the 610 for one. I did think of a 928 A few years back but was told thay are bad for big electrical problems, apart from the last ones, Ahead of there time. Just got back from Goodwood and Amg have copied the backend of the 928 on the new SLS.
But all I can say is every other car was a Porsche of some sort in the car park at Goodwood I never saw one Alpine?

Nice to be exclusive...

Anyone can buy a Porsche.... but not many know the truth hidden in an Alpine. This is why I love them so much.
In traffic you dont even notice the Porsche, but everyone notices an Alpine.. the strange looking car that everyone askes you about when you are at a petrol station.

The a310 has always been THE alpine for me... The curves, the edges, a beauty...
Unfortunately not in my price range though...

That would probably be because all of the Porsche's started on the first turn of the key and off they all went to the party!

Don't "Dis" the Porsche. I had a 1991 964 C2 for 14 years, it started first time every time, I sold it for what I bought it for, it only cost me regular servicing and a set of discs all round, I cannot unfortunately say that about my Venturi or the Le Mans I was fortunate to have owned for a couple of years. To some the Porsche reliability is a bigger draw than being more exclusive.

Now remember I am not dis-ing the Alpine or Venturi just making a point. :angel

I don't think Custard was dis ing the Porsche he is just saying they are rather more common than the Alpine that's all.

I would hazard a guess that's why you kept the Venturi and sold the 911? I would have done the same as you Paul but if you look at it from a financial point of view the Porsche has rocketed recently and the Venturi like the Alpine stayed pretty much the same value.
