GTA from non running rotbox to MOT anything from 3.5 to 5k excluding paint .
250+ horses another 4/5k for full lump rebuild ,turbo, injectors and ECU mods .
Find me another 80's supercar you can get back on the road from a field for that ??

That's paying

...and .....it will be in far better condition than most you can go out and buy now on Ebay for 6/10k.

See what it's like when you get it back home and report back.

Hopefully it won't be too bad and worth getting back on the road. A track day GTA on a budget seems like a good idea and should keep costs down if you are not after a show car finish.

If you need any bits let me know as I'm breaking a Turbo currently.

Track gta, on a budget ,show car finish.
Well that little statement say it all .Paint and polish cost far less than building it right for track .bushes bearings and balljoints to you BigM :GTA

Bushes rear x 14 £ 560
Bearings x4 £200
Balljoints x4 £120
decent std brakes, disks and pads £700 (big brakes £2k + wheels so you can fit them £700)
Tyres £500
Rad £200
Rot repairs ,turrets £800 ( including engine removal ) Sills £500/750
Fuel pumps ,filters ,oil,fluids £300
Clutch £250
Suspension £700/1000

I could go on ...

Paint sells but does not do anything else .
:RATS

This one is now going full track racer so a bit more extreme but had all the above and not counting my labour owed 5k +

Fantastic information, thanks u guys. I can almost complete the checklist of might needs / nices / would likes / dream ons and their relevant costs. must say, paint would be bottom of my list if I was keeping it, especially as I would favour go over show :-). Will report back with photos as soon as I can. Hired a car transporter to collect this Friday, but will be early next week before I even get the chance to take a proper look :-(. Not enough hours in a day or days in a week!

here are 2 photos of Georges car before he took it up to Durham, when he got it home he rang me to say what a great car it was and he had had it up to 140 mph on the way home, I had the privilege of meeting George again at a couple of shows that we both attended and we kept in touch by phone I did work on the car a couple of times. if you want to ring me my number is 01492533430

Thanks Andrew. Great photos, car looks fantastic. Let's hope I can get it back that way. I know George loved the car, even when latterly he wasn't able to drive it. Cars have a special ability to transcend their inanimate nature, especially for true petrol heads. I will give you a call at some stage, would be great to have a chat.

She's safely back to her new home. Some positive signs and maybe a negative but had to drop her and leave without the chance for more investigation. Here's a teaser photo for now from the rear windscreen :-)
