Nearside rear braker caliper GTA

Postby pgoldsmith » Sat Jun 06, 2015 7:27 am

I'm after a refurbished rear passengers side brake caliper, as mine is starting to seize up slightly.
Many years ago I obtained a refurb'd offside caliper as an exchange unit, but I can't for the life of me remember the company I used.
Any one know where the best to go ?

Thank you,

Hi Paul

I had both of the rear calipers on the Venturi refurbished by a local company that has branches around the country, though not in Dorset. They are called Bennetts and the website is below. The rears on the Venturi are the same as the GTA, (adapted Citroen units, BX?). I have their parts numbers for both calipers and they are for the GTA not the Citroen, I might be trying to teaching you to suck eggs but if you go for Citroen refurbished the rubber seals will be wrong due to those wacky guys at Citroen using brake fluid not compatible with most other manufacturers. I'm not sure which caliper is which, but would guess that the one ending in R is for the right hand side?

BRA-CA1576 & BRA-CA1576R

Hope this helps

Thanks Martin & Paul.

I called Bigg Red and they quoted 140.00 to refurb both rears which I thought wasn't a bad price.
They seemed to know about the calipers fitted on the Alpine. 4/ 6 days turn around time.

I'll give Bennetts a try as well.

Cheers,
Paul

That'd be because I send them a fair few ...top lads .
I'd go for the powdercoat option though as the std finish doesn't last that long .
A610 ones just done .

I was told Powdercoat wasn't an option, as the GTA calipers had to be 'split' during the refurb process.

There is an added cost but I always have them powder coated ,GTA,610 ....Got to get some dome in bright yellow soon .It's a lump of metal like anything else so just needs masking off.

Yes the chap at Bigg Red told me, however I'll speak to them again before I send the caliper in - sounds like he's got confused then.
