I'd love to know where you can get an A110 for £5,000......you must be looking at different places to me!!! All the ones I see start at £10000 and go to £20000.
There are too many tatty uncared for GTA s around which is why the prices arent so high. The values will go up as all those dodgy cars you see on Ebay selling at £2000 get broken up for spares or written off. Market forces dictate the going rate for things (economics A-level is flooding back to me! :D ) they change if the seller ensures that the price is fixed so one cant be bought for a lower price (unlikely solution while there are so many GTAs around and people need to sell them) or they change when demand for the item exceeds supply.......this is what will happen ina few years.

5-10G more than a Lotus..

Stephen,
Maybe you should look a little closer to home i.e this site.
To the guide values you have posted. This gives out the wrong impression, to what sellers might expect and what would be buyers are prepared to pay. I bought my car using the value guide in Classic Car Magazine. So was happy to pay £8000, however on discovering this site and its guide. My opinion changed instantly in to thinking I had paid to much.

Hi Dave that certainly makes sense. I'm collecting sales data for Classic & Sports Car magazine to agree realistic values. When we have agreed them I will probably use them to update the price guide.

I guess we will then be looking at a ceiling price of £10K for a concours GTA

Might do a bit of temporary tweeking in the meantime.

We have had the same problem with Rover P5 values and now have a Publicity officer and a Promotional cars officer (me) getting the cars in the mags, tv and loaned out for filming to increase awareness and hence values. Cars dont get preserved unless they are worth good money. When Top Gear had one of my P5B's for filming in February, I chatted to James May and Richard Hammond about the GTA /A610 and they were interested in doing a feature. James was very aware of the car and liked them but Richard had no experience (too young). I will chase up the producer again and see what I can do. The trouble is they wanted one for the track and I dont fancy getting mine buggered up when it has only just about got sorted out. Any volunteers? Geoff 8)

I'm not joking I'd let them put the GTA/A610 back on the map,was thinking about the feature on 5th gear when they tried to get a Lotus to do 200mph and it kept braking down :lol: :lol: How about a 200mph A610 on Topgear.Twin Turbos,engine management,gearbox rebuild......it could be done :wink: The BBC are a bit tight arsed though cant see them throwing £££ at a 5 min slot on top gear....ah well.....offers there though they could take mines for a spin 8)

I'm so glad your A610 is fixed Jamie. Mine only has a silly niggle left to fix and guess what? It's an electrical niggle probably with the Service warning feeding back through a duff diode and there are only a few hundred of those to test!! Top gear do not pay out at all. I did not even get fuel back for my car and I was promised lunch but that turned out to be a packet of crisps and some famous BBC coffee in a polystyrene cup / yuk! I will chase up and see if they would do a feature with several cars and yours could be driven! Will let you all know. Geoff :roll:

I'd be interested too. I just have a few small niggles to sort before I'd be able to. Having said that, I took my GTA to a track day for the first time a few weeks ago and It's pretty awesome! :D I got quite a few admiring looks (don't know if it was me or the car :? ) and more than a few puzzled ones (again, don't know if it was me or the car :lol: ) Everybody said it was fast though! 8)

The track day actually precedes a race meeting for the Northern Ireland Rally Racing Championship, and throughout the meeting there's a drift competition, and a run-wot-u-brung 1/4 mile afterwards. The scrutineer said I'd have cleared up in the Rear Wheel Drive class (and he was a big fan of turbo'd Renaults), but I didn't run in it cos I need new gear linkage bushes (one of the aforementioned niggles :roll: )

Having just noticed this forum topic i have read with great interest. My first thoughts were promotion of these unknown undervalued cars. I then thought of Jeremy Clarkson when he purchased a Porsche 928, over night the 928 became a cool car worthy of the infamous 'cool wall' on Top Gear. (Another example is the BMW 635csi, featured on 5th gear(?) a few years ago. Also, the great car chase on Eastenders resulted in values rising.)

Values soared at all levels, even 928's requiring much work on ebay went up by around 60%. I feel the 928 is a good comparison to the GTA in terms of rarity and performance. All this thanks to a 10 minute feature on Top Gear.

I have contacts at C+SC/Haymarket publishing and any suggestions of an article has fallen on deaf ears (on one occasion i was told they had done the A610 and weren't planning on doing the GTA in the near future.

My theory is, the bubble will burst very soon — at some point it is inevitable before they are rediscovered, so in the meantime if you are thinking of selling, don't sell for silly prices and be patient. You never know one might be in a movie or TV drama, that's all it would take for the GTA to become a cult car.

Publicity will result in demand, demand equals price rise.

It will need to be thousands of percent to make up for my diluted "final salary pension, which had evaporated away by the time I got my slice as it was being carved up and closed down.

No fear, I'm not selling, the GTA is just a toy/hobby for me and the daily driver is a utility tool. That is the fun of motoring and both very nice cars in their own rights and neither for sale.

Like the pension, I'll just drive around and wait see. As I can't see thousand of percent, I'm going to have a lot of fun driving for many years.
