Wheel offsets - how does it work?

Trying to get my head around wheel sizing and offset. From reading various threads here, it seems standard turbo stud pattern is pcd 4x100 with 60.1 hub, rear offset 15 and widths 8.5-10j, front offset 38 and widths 7-8j.

Hypothetically, does this mean if I find a rear wheel that 's 17 inch diameter, correct width and pcd etc, but 35mm offset, I can just add a 20mm spacer and make it work? Any other considerations i.e. would I need longer wheel bolts?

Apologies, but my understanding of wheel sizing and mods is somewhat weak!

But you also have to allow for tyre profile etc + if the wheel protrudes too far from the arch it will fail MOT,clearance to shock also .Still a little bit of suck it and see involved ......

Yes, 4 x 100 with 60.1 CB is correct.
I know because I just tried for AGES to find wheels and played with pretty much every parameter in the a calculator like Clee posted........

I'm running 7.5 x 16 ET 35 front with 195 x 45 x 16 tyres
With hindsight I could have got a 205 on, but might have had to raise the front a fraction

9 x 16 ET20 rear with 245 x 45 x 16 tyres

I run my car on 215x40x16 on the front 16x7,5 rims and 265x40x17 at the rear on 10x17 rims . Your car on your fagix rims should be 215x45x15 front and 285x40x15 rear

The main problem is actually getting the sizes in 4 stud fitting. Very few wheels go much beyond 8J in 4 stud. Choices are very limited now AZEVs are no longer available. If you can't stretch to a custom built wheel from the likes of Image or similar there are literally only a handful of wheels to choose from. 8J on the front will almost certainly have some clearance problems.

I do have a cheap set of AZEV M's for sale if they are of any use to you. 7.5 front 8.5 back with spacers. All fit nice with no clearance issues.

I have a set of 16" A610 turbines + 5 stud hubs to suit .....Not popped the hubs in the refurbished carriers yet ......go-on ,you know you want to :Cheer

They do look good :0). How much would the 5 stud hubs come to?

Thanks for all the advice and offers guys. Hmm, tempting but I like the fagix and they'll have to do me for now until I save a bit more and need to fit larger brakes or the like....... Dream, dream dream. The cost of fully refurbish 3 piece wheels is astronomical and got me looking at options. Could probably buy a new set of Lenso BSX wheels , custom sizes, for a fraction more

I'm just doing the due diligence for potential future needs, and wheels are queuing behind seats, safety (boring) and POWER!!!!!! :-)

It's Lenso I have on mine, good enough wheels, but you have to buy studs and nuts too or the centre caps don't fit on the wheels, the standard ones sit too high.

Are you thinking one set for track days and one set for road use or one set for both?

I'd personally keep the Fagix as they are such a rare wheel and have lots of character then maybe get a set of Azev's for the road.

One set for both, but car probably mainly used on track. 2 sets would be ideal but I find the hassle and effort of 2 x 4 wheel changes for something like an evening track day steals too much of the pleasure away and of course, track dedicated rubber is v expensive, especially for something that is essentially non competitive.

So Fagix for foreseeable future unless bigger brakes required. Just need to find someone to repair a front with a leak. I've been trying to find a used value for the Fagix 456 but they seem rare and the only web reference is to a guy posting on US forums looking for $2k for a pristine polished set. Whether he ever sold them is not clear. Any ideas?
