well i had a good look given the condition she was in
Drivers door hing broken/ one front light cracked/ both lights at the back broken/ brake
fluid well down/ surface rust on all the metal i could see couldn't tell how deep it went/
interior was poor/ The body panels looked ok I think a good t cut would do wonders. just genuinely not looked after needs about £3000 spending on it and it would be a
ok car.
I decided not to go over £3500 (without a test drive) including the auctioneers fees .
in the end it went for £3400 so with the fees £3620
there is no saying how much I would have had to pay to get it.
I probable would have gone up to £4000 if the wife wasn't there.
hope she went to a good home (car that is not the wife)
I'm on a steep learning curve

Looks like values are on the up then...maybe, we have to see if Rupert bought it back, but maybe the SM kept him away?

Glad you went to see it Brian, £3k to spend without paint could be optimistic. Overall I think it went for a fair price, I reckon Chris (the old owner) will be over the moon and hopefully the new owner will be too. Fingers crossed they will turn up on here to help get it back to it's best.

I went to have a nose. Would have been nice to say hello Brian but no idea what you look like!

Needed a lot of tlc but still good value I guess with the Williams at over £5k and the Delorean at nearly £25k. Even the cavalier was £7 - £8k.

Wondered when this would resurface and it has with the square root of f all done to it and 3 grand on top. No doubt some other trader will snap it up and it will be for sale for £11,995 in the new year and be for sale forever. Shame as this would have been a nice starter Alpine to a new enthusiast.

Jeez. It was pretty grim underneath when I sold it four or five years ago. Hate to think what it is like now. MOT'd as well - wtf!

Martin,
I think you are being unkind, it's now got centre caps and has had a polish, that's got to be worth 3k.
Now anyone taking bets on the cross member?
Happy Christmas everyone...
Cheers

I think the centre caps were in the back so no cost there. Plus it had a new MOT at auction time.

Hey I haven't got a problem with people trying to make a few quid that's what makes the world go round. In my day if you made £500 to a grand on a car that was happy days but it seems nowadays you have to make at least 3 grand upwards or it's not worth it.

Check this one out, this was on ebay a few weeks back and got bid upto £500. Rusty arches, 170,000 miles no MOT. Shall we try and double our money on this one Fred, £995? Decision:
