A610 fuel leak

Bizarre... So I had a leak from the fuel pump - from the top somewhere. I replaced the fuel pump, which cured that leak. The strange thing now is that if I run the car with it up in the air, it's as dry as a bone. However, if I go out for a drive, and park in my garage, there's a pool of fuel underneath it shortly afterwards. And I mean a pool! Anyone experienced similar?

I am next going to replace the hose that goes from the filter to the pump. I wanted to replace the outlet from the fuel pump too, but I wasn't sure how/where I was going to get the union from...

Any thoughts?

Not perfectly normal. Like I said in the text sounds like something is expanding and then leaking.

How are the metal fuel lines looking?

There is a fule filter on the right hand side, you have to take the wheel off and it's covered by metal plate, this is exposed to all the crap from the wheel and the metal pipes can get quite corroded. The metal pipes then crawl up the bulkhead to the engine which are in accessible, engine out job they are very hard to see. I would definitely check the pipes to that filter and if there are rusty scraped and carefully and cover them in oil.

I didn't understand what you meant, Martin... But I do now. The metal fuel lines all look fine. I think the only way I am going to diagnose it is to drive the car without the front under tray fitted and then get the car up in the air as soon as I get it home. I will check the hose clamps, etc...

Two filters .One up front rhs with the fuel pump and the other lives in the rhs wheel arch .Check the front filter fittings,they can be easily overtightened,minimum torque needed to fit the banjos etc .Obviously summats leaking so don't overthink the where's and whys and just check all pipes,fittings and pump .Tank return also .

Are the two copper washers in place on the banjo fitting/s ?

Hahaha! Actually I feel a bit silly!

It turns out it wasn't a fuel leak at all, but was condensation from the air conditioning! The reason I thought it was petrol is because the water was on the garage floor where I spilt all the petrol when I changed the fuel pump. So the water smelt of petrol. Oh well. At least it's nothing sinister.

However, it throws up a new potential issue, which I will post about separately.

When I ever get my A610 back.... I will be poking you to find out more, and fix mine.

Well hoping to get mine going this week, rebuilt the compressor last week, hopefully made one good one out of two. One had siezed due to lack of pag oil, so check that befor running, there is even a drain plug for oil change which is hard to see. Have changed all the o rings even in the compressor to green, just got every thing crossed for the system clean and re gas. Hopefully it will then be

where did you get it? and has it got the inspection window on it, like the original one?? I defiantly need one for mine.

Well there is the plug, but remember it is tucked behind the pulley, you can see from the other photos how running dry for a while has caused the worm to get heavily pitted, and the large O ring seal on the front of the pump body.

Plus the idler pulley bearing had gone, so I decided to have it remachined to except two more common style bearings.
