Insurance recommendations

Postby Keith Hall » Wed Mar 09, 2016 10:42 pm

Need to renew the insurance on my Spider - it's currently on a multi-car policy but I'm looking to get it onto a "proper" classic car policy with things like guaranteed value

any recommendations or tips?

ta!

carol nash, footman james, you just have to search google or ring around.
REIS too, maybe,

Just dont tell any of them that you are thinking of going to the ring. If asked, just say "no, not interested in that".
I am told by some one in the business that if you show interest, they are very likely to not even offer you a policy.

In the past I've used heritage and classic line for my gta

Both had the agreed value, retain of salvage and even covered track days organised by the club.

Very reasonably priced too

so, story so far....

Footman James - can't quote on a classic policy as the vehicle needs to be 20 years old.....mine's nearly 19 years and at renewal next year will be a few weeks shy of 20 years old :wtf

Carole Nash - can't quote online and a 30 minute phone call later and needs to be referred to an underwriter....... :(

I'll find out during the week if they can cover

I've been with classicline for about 10 years now. They are always the cheapest in my case and even if I do get a slightly cheaper quote elsewhere they usually match it and to be honest theirs is the better cover anyway (I'm still on a £100 excess only even after my 610 crash a few years back).

I pay £160 a year fully comp limited to 2000 miles per annum (I did 900 last year so must try harder).

I used Hegerty (or was it Hegarty...) on the now gone Clio V6 as they had a 'future classics' policy, which may work for you...

I use Heritage Classic around £170 with agreed value and limited to 3000 miles. Being a member of RAOC brings the price down too.

So Carole Nash came up trumps then on the policy and it includes European breakdown just in case the Spider doesn't behave it's self on the way to Macon :wtf
