Wheels & Tyres

Postby patch » Wed Mar 16, 2016 11:31 am

So, the GTA has been sitting for years and not driven properly for getting on for 16yrs. No idea of the age of the tyres fitted so they need changing. She still has the Turbines on but tyre prices and availablity seem crazy.

Question is, do I splash out on new rubber or get a set of nice 5 spoke Azev or Borbet 16/17" used rims that I can shed with more readily available rubber going forward.

Few sets for sale on Ebay, from what I have read 17" is the biggest to go but the offset and width i'm unclear on.

Thanks

195 50 15's front and 225 50's rear on the standards bish hash bosh.

Be very careful when looking at Azev's if you fancy those as the offsets are rather tricky. Have a good search on the forum as there are plenty of threads on the subject.

Thanks Martin

I don't really want to lay out loads on top of everything else but really needs doing. Do the 225's look ok? I take it the deeper profile helps the stretch from 245.

225 was factory spec alternative in any case .It's listed in the owners handbook with running pressures etc .Just looks a lot better on fatter rears ....as do a lot of things .
