Tony, I wasn't going to mention Mr Salama in person, but he did admit to that one just after I bought the car from you. Rob

Every A310 person will know it's been re-sprayed.
It's already clear that it's far to good a job to have been done by the factory ;)

Should look good when it's finished and all back together.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what treatment is being given to the windscreen surround and the quarterlight and door window frames? Is that a primer finish at the moment? Just trying to figure, from the overspray pattern on the masking paper, how it's being done.

John, yes that is primer on them. The windscreen and window surrounds and the new trims that fit along the bottom of the door windows are all going to be painted satin black. Once done they will all be the same colour for the first time since I have had the car.

A310 update.
It's back home. The paint finish is superb? Now the fun starts in trying to put it back together without scratching the paint!

A310 Electrical issue.

I took the A310 put for its first run since the respray on Sunday and noticed an issue with the nearside front indicator, so it is time to pick your collective brains.

The sidelight works as it should, but when indicating left the sidelight bulb flashes. I took the unit out thinking I had wired it wrong and reversed the wires, but that made no difference I.e. Sidelight works, but sidelight flashes rather than the indicator. The nearside rear indicator and both offside indicators work fine.

Could this be an earth fault or would anyone have any other thoughts / ideas?

I've experienced that when a poor earth has been the cause. As a temporary check you could connect a length of wire to the earth point at the light housing and connect the other end to a good earth point. There's one at the front near side of the front boot in mine.

Now sorted. It was the earth behind the indicator / sidelight unit.

Back on the road, to Cadwell Park the other weekend and to a local event, Horsepower at the Hall today.

That does look very good, although I'm not a fan of the painted bumpers.... but it's not my car so that's of no consequence. ;)

Tony Smith's old car? :silent

Nice to see it back out again.

Hey Rob or JohnB would either of you be willing to help fellow member Geoff Hill out on Fathers Day this year as he needs a nice A310 for a show in Yorkshire? I guess with John's bad luck (headgasket) it's more likely you Rob. If you are interested let me know and I will put you in touch with Geoff.
