Different strokes for different folks. Whatever floats your boat.

B&H = £120 for 4 laps timed solo.
ORS = £125 for 3 hours open pit lane not timed in a group of 10.

Even the slowest Sunday driver would struggle to do less than 4 laps. In fact you'd probably get 5 laps in a £35 slot.

You pays your money and makes your choice or why not do both...

Not sure I said cost was any issue at all.

The Sprint is "competitive", where as a track day is very different, but I will be there.
If all you want to do is "miles" then the public road is just as easy.

Thanks for noise clarification, I might have to do some work on the car.
How restrictive is an original GTA exhaust as might need to put one on for the day?

Buy a db meter from ebay for a tenner gaffer tape it to a stick and then you can experiment :-)

How do the 15 minute slots work, can they be taken at any time during the day?

Single and double slots will be at fixed times most likely between 12.00- 12.30 & 4.30 - 5.00

All other track time will be flexible sessions and subject to queuing times in pit lane.

That's interesting, the static equivalent limit permitted on the public roads is 102dB(A) ie GW is lower than you can legally operate on the road. Hence, you will need good silencing.

I think the limit is much lower than this:

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vca/fcb/cars-and-noise.asp

The external noise emitted by passenger cars has been controlled since 1929 when the Motor Cars (Excessive Noise) regulations were introduced. New cars are now required to meet Europe-wide noise limits. These have been progressively reduced from 82 decibels (dB (A)) in 1978 to the current limit of 74 dB (A) established in 1996. This means it would take 7 new vehicles to make the same amount of noise as one vehicle that just meets the pre-1978 limits. Information on the level of noise recorded for new models of cars at their type approval test is also listed in the data table.

When looking at this information please note that off-road vehicles are allowed to be 1dB (A) louder, as are direct-injection diesels. These allowances are cumulative, so the limit for an off-road vehicle with a direct injection diesel engine is 76 dB (A).

The noise levels quoted above are the maximum levels that are permitted for new vehicle types. Many vehicles produce lower levels of noise, and it is illegal to modify the exhaust system of a vehicle to make it noisier than the level recorded for that model at type approval.

A new EU regulation is being introduced from July 2016, Regulation (EU) No 540/2014, which will phase in tighter noise limits over 10 years, together with a revised, more representative test procedure. By 2026 the limit for most new passenger cars will be 68 dB(A).

Ultimately, Goodwood can do what ever they like.
Thankfully, their "low" 98db is better than the highways noise limits :)
but not quite as generous as their Race day limits of 105db.

I think we suffer because of the limit free days of FOS and revival.

The noise monitoring equipment there is very hi tech and apparently they have a lot of issues with locals.

I think 98db is optimistically low for a track day but nothing we can do. All circuits seem to be getting lower all the time.

At least 96db drive by is better than Brands 92db and others.

Found this online. Don't know how up to date it is:

Anglesey – 105db (static test)

Bedford – 101db (static test) and 87.5db drive by. All drive-by meters are at 20 metres from the edge of the track.

Brands Hatch Indy – 105db (static test) and 92db drive by.

Brands Hatch Indy Evenings – 102db (static test) and 92db drive by.

Brands Hatch GP – 101db (static test) and 92db drive by.

Cadwell Park – 105db (static test) and 92db drive-by.

Donington Park – 98db and 105 db measured as a drive by with multiple meters at trackside.

Mallory Park – 105db (static test) during the weekdays and Tuesday to Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are 98db (static test) for Trackdays.

Oulton Park – 102db (static test) and 89db drive by.

Pembury – 102db (static test).

Silverstone – 102db drive by meters at circuit (customers are photographed on the national straight as they trigger the meter ) but 105db measures at ¾ revs are used on the static test when required.

Snetterton – 102db (static test) and 92db drive by

sadly though, some would never even get so far as testing the drive bye....
Brands Hatch Indy – 105db (static test) and 92db drive by.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Track time nearly 30% sold so don't leave booking yours until the last minute to avoid disappointment!

Track time is selling really well this weekend.

If you are just interested in coming along to spectate then no problem but if you want to go on circuit you really need to buy your time ASAP or there will be none left for Alpines which would be a real shame.

Booked for General Admission this year.
Just for info, I had some track time last year and the dB reading was 98 - I have a Mecaparts stainless exhaust fitted.
They said my right exhaust pipe was "on the limit" and my left was exceeding it. I didn't mention that the only reason the right was lower is because it's slight further away from the main exhaust feed from the turbo.
They then followed that with "just don't accelerate too hard".....and then my son drove it and obviously heeded the warning..... LOL
