Next question - suspension bearing rubbers?

Postby davidmt » Wed Oct 26, 2016 9:04 am

My Spider rear shock absorbers/springs are currently with Bilstein being refurbished. They should be back later this week however they have confirmed that they don't stock the top and bottom pairs of rubbers that protect the bearings. The ones that I removed were torn and could therefore do with replacing.

I assume they are a generic Renault part or can be replaced with some aftermarket rubbers but thought I would ask the sages on here first.

I would provide a photo but I sent the rubbers to Bilstein with the suspension!

Does a parts catalogue exist for the Spider anywhere?

Thanks

There were several Spider manuals (all in French, unfortunately) that I access from a link on this forum a couple of weeks ago - maybe they would help. The only English "service" type manual that I have is the "Windscreen Version" with details of the electric windscreen heater and wiper etc. If you can't find the French manuals, PM me and I'll either email them to you or give you the URL.

Thanks - the manuals were perfect and I quickly found the part number.

The part is a Bush - part number 6000068229.

I have emailed my usual sources and even some strange ones in Europe but nothing as of yet.

Bilstein have confirmed that they don't really do anything but would rather put some replacements back in before I put the shocks/springs back on. I may have to make something similar.

as you are both club members, then read this thread regarding Renault parts look up.

never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Thanks Mark, that's great. BTW, if you PM me your email address, I can send you some of the still pictures that Lucas took on his brother's fancy camera when we met up a couple of weekend ago.

Yes - tried those links thanks but the parts and any substitutes are no longer available.

It's a simple dust boot for the shock absorber bearing and doesn't do much so I will have to reuse the originals or make something suitable out of something else.

To close this thread - I have cleaned up the original rubbers and will reuse them.
