Postby Mikael » Fri Sep 30, 2005 8:06 pm

Hello all i have a prob. keeping my boost level down. i suspected it was the boost reg. valve (manual) so i change it with a turbosmart.... but i was still not able to control it even with the valve closed, it was still going up way to high(ecu was cutting in)!!! i have try changing the dump valve too... no luck... ideas anyone.

You may have a split or hole in the pipe to the turbo actuator (pipe with your bleed valve in), or the wastegate may be stuck closed.

If you look at the wastegate actuator (capsule and rod below the turbo), put a lever bar between the bottom oil pipe from the turbo and the screwed on section on the actuator rod, it should move to the left, but it will be stiff.

If it does not move, then it may be stuck.

To change the wastegate housing, the turbo heatshields have to be removed, the turbo downpipe, then the wastegate housing unbolts from the end of the turbo with 5 13mm bolts.

My wastegate acuator is on the top of the turbo (easyer to reach) i have tried to make the rod longer, and shorter with no effect at all, will a shorter rod make higher or lower boost, (if not stucked). :(

How?????? Have you got a picture?

Is your actuator a new one? If so, the spring rate may be too high..

Yes, shortning the rod will run higher boost, if it isnt stuck
