The worst car in the world

Postby peterg » Thu Sep 29, 2005 4:38 pm

Ive just come back from holiday in Cyprus (30 degree sunshine for a week, did very little.... great week! :D ) and thought I'd start a fun topic......the worst car youve ever driven! Whilst in Cyprus we met up with friends for a day who had hired a Suzuki SJ410 Samurai jeep and it has taken my title for worst car ever....and I must have driven over a 1000 cars in my time.
The hood was impossible to fit and wasnt worth calling weather protection, at 40 mph and above the steering wheel vibrated so violently as to cause muscle pain after a short drive, it topped out at 65mph, drank petrol, overheated and its piece de resistance were the windscreen washers.........they squirted into the drivers footwell!!!! I'd talk about the ride quality, but there wasnt any!!!! Truly awful experience which has eclipsed the 4 speed 1000cc Fiesta popular (it wasnt popular trust me!)with 16" alloys that I was forced to borrow earlier this year

peterg, I think you are lucky to have survived. I'm told that these jeeps have a good habit of tipping over on corners. Perhaps your short journey did not get you as far as a corner, luckily.

For me, it was a Ford Sierra 1.6L. I just took it for a short journey, apaulling all round, don't think I've ever been in a Ford since, actually I don't think I had been in a Ford before this experience either.

Something about short journeys, may-be.

Difficult! There are so many choices. Second is the Subaru Justy courtesy car (it was not courteous) I was loaned whilst my Impreza Turbo 250 was in for service. What a dreadful Suzuki made piece of junk! First is a basic Nissan Bluebird I got stuck with as a temporary company car a few years ago whilst waiting for a new one. It did nothing right and I hated being in it. I tried to break it but it wouldnt even do that. Hardboard seats, no power, no handling, lousy brakes, you name it. More recent choice would have to be a Chrysler Neon. The modern attempt at making a car worse than the Austin Allegro. It succeeded in its mission. :D

I can't believe that you have just slagged off the Nissan Bluebird, my second favourite car after my GTA

Worst car in the world has to be all Kia cars

That has to be Irish humour. Bluebird, pah! You are not wrong about Kia's I feel but the buying public dont know that, so they keep on buying them. I have a neighbour who has a 53 reg Kia brat wagon. It pours oil out from the engine all over the place but they dont seem to mind. It was very cheap apparently.

Yes, it is Irish humour, but I am serious about the Kia's

Bye the way and on a slightly different subject, Does anyone know were I might find a Renault 5 Gordini to buy, I have been looking for one for ages as I happen to think that it is the second best car in the world after my GTA

Any help would be appreciated

There is a Gordini brochure on e-bay at the moment but that is about it. I drove one of those when they first came out (I worked for a Renault Group at the time). Boy was it fast and furious. Lousy gearchange I seem to remember. :(

Chevette 1256cc

Postby Tony Smith » Wed Oct 05, 2005 11:12 am

An old girlfriend of mine had a shagged 1256cc chevette that her dad had 'kindly' bought her for her 18th birthday. I lost to a 2cv citroen in a traffic light grand prix in it. Horrible gearchange, handling and interior too. The Corsa combo van I get when my Berlingo is in for a service is dire too and Mk2 Astras are as dreary as they come to drive - oh and the PT Cruiser - What a pile of shite that is too!
