The button is for the heated rear window.

A quick search for the Manual de Reparation gives you this. Mainly covering the Phase 1 but some of the supplements at the end cover the Phase 2.

I did a quick search on the FAR forum and i think this is what you want and it's for a Phase 2 car.

Vince, if you read this.
Maybe this handbook could be added, in the future, to the Technical section once it's re-established. Might be useful to someone else.

No, can't help there but you can find original brochures on eBay, at a price.

Hi, I discovered that, in my car this button is used not for thermic rear window but to activate the fan of front heat exchanger
it seems that when the temperature go over some value button lights...but I saw that fan works properly if engine goes to high temp (over 90°),
because my car has not rear window but it has a grid...

Presumably a previous owner re-wired the switch to allow manual switching of the radiator fans in addition to their operation by the temperature switch in the radiator. Could be a useful feature as I found with my car a couple of year ago when the temperature switch was faulty and was not switching the fans on. This wasn't a problem when the car was in motion but in slow traffic, when the fault first appeared, caused the coolant temperature to rise quickly.

Fortunately my car has air conditioning and the air conditioning rotary switch on the dashboard also switches the radiator fans on as soon as it is turned. This enabled the coolant temperature to be controlled manually until I fitted a new temperature switch at the radiator.

Presumably the button on your car only lights, or goes off, when you press the button? If it lights on its own as well as when you push the button then the wiring, presumably, must have also been modified to include the light into the radiator temperature switch circuit.
