Postby paulrob100 » Fri Jan 20, 2017 8:55 pm

As a subscriber to Octane, My March issue arrived today. On page 20/21they are tipping the GTA as one of the cars to buy in 2017. Fame at last ! ;) :sarcasm

Nice plug. Unfortunately there are not enough available on the market at the moment.

We need Dell, Mr Law and Clee to keep restoring them and me to stop breaking them to get numbers up!

Indeed. Its been under the radar for so long. Typically the market will only wake up to the car, once its almost impossible to find a good one. Then prices will go up, unlike 911`s. In the current issue of CAR magazine, Mark Walton is bemoaning the fact that `everyday` 911`s are bringing £40k. Do we really want this to happen to GTA`s ? Surely part of the enjoyment is having a great car at a reasonable price, that can be enjoyed without having to worry about its value. Obviously it would be nice if the market was stable, so we don't loose money.

Classic cars march issue has them on the way up.... just.

I really don't think they'll fail to go up some this year with the relaunch of the alpine name. But also what other rear engine, rear wheel drive car can you get for the money, pound per performance you can't go wrong and they still look great. Quirky classics are what people look for I think and for the price of a good GTA right now you're looking at a run of the mill hot hatch you used to see in every pub car park when they were younger. That can't stay the same for long! Having attended a couple of local car meets there are a lot of similarly priced very ordinary cars being lauded as future classics.

I reckon once the worries about rot are put to bed for the majority of the remaining examples and people can buy with confidence, the market will wake up to the charms of the most aerodynamic super car of its day.

Just my view, but I would be happy for the value to go up as it means I can justify more time and money on the car to my wife lol

I think those prices are a bit stingy to be honest. I reckon a concours GTA is easily worth £15k. A minter £10k, a good un £8k.

The figures and rises are based solely on auction results. So essentially the red one that went through recently. Martin Sheaders old car.
