GTA86 back on road!

Postby purches graeme » Fri Mar 24, 2017 8:42 pm

Hi all
My '86 Atmo registration GTA86 is back on New Zealand roads, with the engine/gearbox work finished.
My son Nathan will deliver it home today (240 km trip) and then take it back tomorrow to re-torque heads, change oil, etc.
He also hopes to get it on a dyno next week.
Meanwhile, he has put a post of his Facebook page about the car, which you can see at NRP [email protected]
He rang yesterday to and was over the moon about how quick it is - much better than before, and this car was always well regarded in New Zealand, and way quicker than my Blue '90 Atmo which already has ported heads.
The 450 cfm Quick Fuel 4-barrel carburetor conversion, the extensive manifold work and porting, and the 270 degree cams have worked a treat.
I will post full details including project progress pix taken along the way in the My Project forum on the next couple of weeks so that some of you can replicate this if you want to. Once I figure out how to do that, i.e. add the photos, that is!!!!
Cheers
Graeme

Hi Graeme,
It's like early Xmas for you. Would love see pics and any videos. I sent you a PM and was hoping to catch up at some stage. Just repairing oil leaks from rocker covers at the moment, and would like to take the car for a run down your way.
Cheers enjoy the new ride
