Rolling Roads?

Postby Matt Silver » Mon Apr 03, 2017 6:16 pm

Hi All, Can anyone recommend a good rolling road situated within East Anglia/Home Counties that has Alpine experience?

I'm currently trying to eliminate an intermittent miss-fire on my GTA V6T that results/feels like it's dropping onto 5 cylinders. Parts currently replaced:

Spark Plugs,
Leads (Magnecor)
Dizzy cap and rotor arm,
Both fuel filters
Front fuel pump
Air filter

As I say it's intermittent but out of a 50mile journey then 25 of those will be with some degree of hesitancy on wide throttle openings. The turbo spools up nicely with no smoke when hot or cold. If anything the miss-fire is less pronounced when cold. Also not sure if related the temperature gauge only sits at 90.0oc during warm ambient conditions and some traffic, other than that it is sitting at approx. 60.0oc.

Any thoughts much appreciated but I seem to be leaning towards a RR set-up.

Thanks Matthew.

Have you checked the temp sensor on the thermostat housing? Would be my next step.....

Make sure the connection to the 2 fuel pumps are both good. Remove clean and give a good wiggle.
I remember "Ben"'s car had a fuelling issue......turned out to be a semi-loose fuel pump connection.

Hi Jon & Simon, sorry for the delay and thank you for your replies, very much appreciated! Interestingly disconnecting the temp sensor adding some electrical contact cleaner and reconnecting seems to have made a huge difference, as a test if I disconnected the sensor the engine would not start, reconnected all OK.

But and I think this is the miracle cure, was to actually drive the car frequently! I decided to ditch the company car for two weeks and drive the GTA to the office/site etc and now any signs of hesitancy have not been repeated. The car is/has been in storage on/off for most of it's life it's possible old fuel has not helped......

But now and due to the amount of cars currently within the collection, I might be tempted to sell, if anyone can talk me out of it then please go ahead.

Thanks again....
