7ZU Engine codes

Postby simontaylor » Wed May 03, 2017 5:27 pm

7ZU engine (2458cc) comes in 4 flavours.
7ZU-700
7ZU-702
7ZU-730 (GTA Turbo)
7ZU-734

I can only suspect that the 734 maybe the Le Mans or D502 (GTA with Cat)
and the 700 and 702 may be R25 models.

Anyone know for sure?

Hi Simon

Yes, you are correct in your assumptions.

Z7U-730 is the 'normal' GTA Turbo spec
734 is D502 or D501 Swiss spec (with all the emmisions gubbins)
702 is early Renault 25 Turbo (B295)
700 is later 25 Turbo (B29G)

I am expecting it to be a tad bit more than just "cheap head gaskets". After 31 years, upgrades in power, 13 years of spirited driving, and never having been apart....... there is plenty to check, clean, measure, refurbish, renew or replace. :crazy

Sounds like you need another lump to get you roadworthy again then rebuild your original over time.
