A610 head lining

Postby jagcat12 » Fri Jul 07, 2017 5:22 pm

Had a fast drive the other day and as air con not working (but will be soon) had both windows open and the head lining blew off dam
and blast. Thought that as usual the nearest repair guy would be miles away but surprise one in my village .

I would be interested in cost as well. Mine is pretty good too look at but does not return back to shape if touched so prettty sure the foam is goosed underneath

Have just done the headlining in my GTA, total cost around 30 for the lining and the glue.
I was lucky though, the previous owner had removed the old lining and cleaned most of it up, so this time it didn't take too long or be too messy.
I took the opportunity to line the roof with aluminium foil to connect to the aerial ground side, in the hope of improving the radio reception, which is normally quite average on these cars.
A 610 needs it doing too, that is a modern liner which I can feel lumps underneath, not looking forward to that one. It currently sags onto my head which is a bit irritating.

There is no card in the A610 roof lining, it is foam covered with cloth and glued to the roof .The main cost was cleaning all the degraded foam of and cleaning up to replace.

Shame no one can manufacture a card type headlining for GTA and 610 as in my Audi. Would stop anymore sagging headlining issues ;0)

Hmm...maybe...I had a Saab with a moulded head lining, and whilst the head liner didn't sag, the covering still came loose and dangled on your head...of course, you could take it out, turn it upside down and reglue it, but that meant taking the back window out, so in practice it was the same as the GTA to fix.
For clarity on the GTA I glued foil onto the inside of the roof and then glued the headlining to that. Once I get the car going, I'm hoping the improved aerial earth will make the radio work better. At present I can only get radio four.
Cheers
