spark plugs

Postby chris » Sat Oct 15, 2005 1:55 pm

I am currently using NGK BP7EFS in my ATMO EFI GTA . I have a lot of static noise coming through my speakers so I was thinking of using similar plugs with resistors to eliminate or suppress the noise . Do you think this would work or any idea's what the noise is caused from ?
Thanks Chris W.

Possibly.

Have you got plenty of earth straps from the engine to the chassis and supressors on the alternator?

Worth a try....that is what resistor plugs are designed for.. :D

But it could be a myriad of other things just related to the audio system.

you can also try connecting an in line suppressor to the audio system, it's normally a dodgy feed from the battery which picks up the buzz but as David G says the resistor plugs should help eliminate it.

Interesting thread on plugs....

I changed my spark plugs today, with the NGK BP7EFVX ones i got from an eBay seller. £22 delivered for 6. Good price i thought.

Anyway, the plugs i pulled from my car were Bosch platium plugs. But worryingly they were approx 4mm shorter from the tapered seat to the electrode.
So i double checked on NGK site, and on this forum for the correct plugs, and sure enough i have the correct NGK ones.
Fitted, and started up sweet. Seems to run alot smoother.

Guess the last owner or garage that serviced the car put the wrong plugs in.

Ive just checked the ones i took out. They were H3CS.
But as i mentioned they were 4mm shorter in length than the NGK's.

How this would effect the running im not sure.

In my many years of working on Turbo charged engines, and tuning them for extra power. NGK have always performed best. Hence my selection.

Champion S6YC worked fine for me in two cars, they are very cheap as well. Bought the NGK's for the 610 though.

Yes, you have to use triple electrode plugs in the 610. They have those as standard.
