FCS tomorrow for a couple of hours tracktime/testing.
It's only down the road at Donington and will give me a chance to stretch it's legs a lot more than we did at Curb.
JANGO is riding shotgun and will get a drive if he promises to behave ;-) I'm sure he will find the limits ........ :crazy
Got a temp gun to check tyres after runs so can start to see if the setup is anywhere near right .
Checked the 'pipe' and it's giving 96db@4k@1/2m so will just have to risk the black flag on driveby ....should be OK .... :GTA

Ooopps ! In the gravel at Redgate but no major damage, just a bit of paint.
But then throttle cable started getting notchy, then wouldn't return so stuck wot if you pressed the pedal.Turns out something inside the sleeve snagging the wire ...go figure...new cable as well..

Good news is pipe passed drive by test so will be staying for a while.Did get black flagged for being a bit Smokey from the engine bay .....straight back out after .

Didn't get chance to test. Was all a bit disjointed, not the best type of event for learning too much.I did prove the brakes are working well and that the car will take it.

My throttle cable seized while at Croix.
It seems the heat from hot turbo managed to seep into the cable and melt the plastic.
Once cooled in the paddock, the cable and pedal were solid for the trip home.

Ahhh bigger !! Now that's a thought.Cheers :up
The snag is up that end of the cable quite possibly behind the turbo. When we pulled the wire through you could feel it suddenly go free around that point ....
Makes me wonder if I put the heatproof sleeve back on the guide tube where it enters the engine bay ...bullocks !! Engine out to do that .If that happens then I'll put the BIG Box on .

I made up an additional heat sheild to cover the steel tube at the bottom of the stainless steel sheet, where the tube enters the bulkhead, I guess you have similar.

I might just get some oven wire high temp sleeving to slide over the cable.I should be able to do that in-situ .Looking at the cable again the sleeve is metal with just a plastic outer coating.Inner cant have melted,no heat damage to outer plastic at all .....must have fracture to snag

Another successful test day for RATS' Racer :up
Car continues to behave and brakes are well and truly bedded and working well.Handles well enough and able to throw it about with more and more confidence.

MAIN ISSUE HEAT .

I've got to get rid of it from the engine bay.Running without an engine cover just heat soaks the intercooler. With cover it's reading 30c after a fair few laps.Without cover you cant touch it ...
So ...aero mods and extraction fans + get some air into the cabin/driver.
+ I need a much bigger fuel tank as it's just gulping it down .40l at present...somehow I think I'll need to double that for the intended purpose.

This is me after hearing what Jango done to me car ;)

Jango damage all fixed :sarcasm
It was just an exhaust collar on one of the pipes up to turbo.Had worked loose and was blowing like it wasn't there at all.I've taken the rear quarter slatted poly off and have new full units to go in.Side air vents to rear panels sealed off and cut through's into engine bay reintroduced.
I need a turbo extractor fan if anyone has a spare they would sell and I'm putting an extra fan in to pull air down and out on the LHS of the lump .Lots of aero mods coming but I can't change silhouette so most is going on under the car ;)

This is what you need...remove heat and better aero...need to disguise that fan though...

Edit..this picture shows what you could do underneath...

Seems like a sensible mod...
