Thanks to RobS for organising this event. The Laguna ran in two races and was 3rd in both, behind two Honda Accords.

This Laguna was J-C Boullion's car from the late 90's.

This one wasn't smashed up at Goodwood as far as I'm aware.

Sounds like it's Simon Garrad's car in which case it's the same one.

Car is No 79 (I believe all the touring cars keep their original race numbers from BTCC), Owned by Bob Jones and driven by his son Mark Jones. Owned for well over 2 years and not crashed last year. I was chatting to him at Oulton about crashing and he did say all the panels were original, slightly bashed from an altercation in Race one with some Italian nutjob in an RS500 but never been in a major crash. It's an expensive hobby and they can't afford to push things too far as you can't exactly nit into the local dealer for a new part for your ex-BTCC Laguna. In fact, Oulton was the first time they had finished a race with the car and to bag a podium in both races was a major plus.

If the numbers stay with the cars that would mean the Goodwood car could be the one I very foolishly didn't purchase in June 2009.

At the end of the season the car was returned to Williams where it remained in storage. In December 2005 chassis 99/03 and 99/04 were due to be auctioned as part of the WilliamsF1 Reserve Collection but the entire collection was brought by an anonymous buyer and the auction cancelled.

In 2007 the car appeared in the Serbian Touring Car Championship.

In late 2013 the car was purchased by Mark Jones and returned to the UK.

The car I went to look at was chassis 02 for the princely sum of £5,500

I thought it was expensive as I had just missed the ex DC Cook Rustad car before Xmas. That was for sale for £3,500 rolling shell or £4,500 with engine (non sodemo and no box).
