Would a Mabuchi fc280 fit...there are data sheets....might tell you if it is the right size.

Try googling..or search on eBay

Edit..the actuator body of those motors is 30mm long and the flat bit 24mm wide. What size is the original one ?

Tom ..... As a matter of interest, what 12v source are you using to test the motor ...... 12v bench supply (what available current rating ?) ... Car Battery ? .... or some other type of battery ?
To my way of thinking, unless you are using a power source with sufficient current availability, the source may not have the current to overcome the "locked rotor" condition when starting up. ;)

Dave those are the dimensions, I’ll check for one tonight. Thanks

JohnC I just used the cars power, once the motor was removed I plugged the connectors into the plug, could be that the source is bad but it didn’t feel like that, the history of that lock mech. is that it was ceased when I got the car and I gradually freed off. I’m guessing at corrosion around the brushes of the motor

Tom ....... Thanks for your reply. I don't know if you have the diagram for the door locking circuit, but in case you don't have it, both lock/unlock units are wired in parallel, so if one works and the other does not, then it does tend to prove you have a faulty unit ...... except that the only thing that is individual is the actual 5 pin connector. These connectors have been known to get corroded and give trouble. Other members that have been in touch, have found that just by cleaning the connectors of the failed one has, in many cases, cured the problem.
I don't know where you are picking up your negative from, as it does not exist on the connector ... only the positive on pin 2.
It might be worth checking your 12v with a meter across your motor once you can get the motor spinning ...... or better still, connect the motor directly across the battery ...... its worth a shot. :)

So door lock fixed in the end by many soakings the motor in switch cleaner and lube. The motor suggested by Dave would have worked too, only a few pounds from eBay. Thank you for all your help.

But guess todays repair..................!
