Best tool ever! Sealey Transmission Oil Filler...

Postby r5gordini » Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:34 pm

Hi All,

As part of my recent work I needed to refill the gearbox oil on my A610. I bought one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-VS70095 ... dpSrc=srch

A Sealey transmission filling thingy.

It's amazing! No more oil in my hair or struggles to squeeze the oil out of little 1-litre containers. Makes the job so much easier.

The filling thingy is long enough to go up into the filler on the side of the transmission. My only complaints are that it's a bit slow to fill the oil and it has a tiny filler plug on it so I spilt quite a bit of oil as I was filling it. A funnel is recommended, but I don't have any of those!

It would be even better if it was powered by my compressor, but that might be less convenient due to the air hose getting in the way. However, it's a simple job to pump up the filling tool and open the valve on it and let the oil flow into the gearbox.

Highly recommended!

Nice bit of kit ....... but I prefer the cheaper version which I have used ever since I first changed the gearbox oil in the Alp..
All you need is a length of 10 mm soft copper pipe, a spring pipe bender a small funnel and a cable tie to hold it in place. No crawling underneath.
You can also use a plastic pipe if you prefer.

Place a piece of paper wipe on the cross member directly below the filler hole, fill slowly to avoid air bubbles until oil drips out onto the wipe whilst comfortably standing ...... job done. :)

Yep John that's the best method.
I use it too.

When I changed the gearbox oil on my Spider recently, I used one of these metal fluid transfer pump syringes that you can get for about 8 quid on Ebay - cut the supplied pipe to length then one end in the bottle and the other in the oil filler hole - easy peasy :up
