Exhaust Gaskets

Postby mettersl » Fri Oct 21, 2005 1:37 pm

Can anyone recommend a good source (and ideally part numbers) for the gaskets and bolts you need to fit an exhaust to a A610/GTA.
I have one of Mr Gentlemens systems on order but I was rather taken aback to find Renault want about 7 pounds a gasket (and a week to get them) plus the bolts (I didn't even bother to ask).
Our Honda has wonderful brass bolts on all the exhaust flanges and I'd like to find those ideally any suggestions?
I have the Honda as a contrast to the A610 as it just works all the time, with virtually no maintenance (and has for 10 years) and passes MOT's without work!

Thanks
Lee

Those brass look bolts are easily available from any motor factor.....the local garage I go to has buckets full of them. What gaskets do you need?

"A610/GTA"
I think the A610 has a flange with a gasket,
where as the GTA is more of an olive type joint,
completely different.

Hi Peter,
The first joint is pretty conventional a flange joint with a gasket between- it’s well illustrated in the parts book and sits- between the down pipe and cat. It has three bolts; evenly spaced around the pipe- I’m guessing the pipe diameter is 55mm. This looks like it should be pretty standard- and I was hoping that there might be specialists that sell them.
The second has four bolts around it, but it sandwiches a flexible gland (I think from the picture) - and again I think it'll be around 5 mm.
The question was really does halfords or one of the main factor chains stock this kind of stuff or am I over a barrel at Renault?
I'll try one of the factors tomorrow for the brass bolts, the existing steel ones have virtually dissolved.

I notice no one jumping up to say how unrelaible their Honda is, but don't worry I always take the Alpine when possible!
Thanks

We find the Renault is the most unreliable car in the fleet, Scenic that is, compared to the GTA (6k miles in 2 yrs)and an LS400 (6k miles in 3 months).
