Venturi engine fault

Postby PaulC1959 » Wed May 16, 2018 3:06 pm

Hi Folks

I have been asked by Philippe Bachelet a fellow Venturi owner to post and ask for help with his engine.

He has a 200, (200bhp), model, (ex Paul Dobrowski) with the 2.5 turbo engine. This is the same engine as the Alpine GTA turbo and the same ECU also. His description is as follows.

The car starts and runs fine for 2 minutes then becomes totally erratic and stalls. It does not want to run over 2000 rpm and the car will not drive if attempted and stalls. He has sent me a sound file to my mobile I can try and send it on to anybody who would be interested.

Thanks for any help in advance. :up

.HI,

Pull the plugs and check the colouration, post a picture...

1. Make sure the water temp sensor is good - check resistance value in range against the book
2. Post pictures of the plugs, is it massive over or under fuelling?
If lean pull the vac line to the fuel pressure reg at idle, make sure the engine picks up...
3. Try a different prayer, usually a healthy thing anyway
4. Any vac leaks on the intake system?
5. Disconnect the idle control valve see if it makes any difference ie check it is working, block if necessary to prove point
6. Check the earths here there and everywhere, bit like praying...
7. Replace dizzy cap and rotor arm with genuine Bosch parts only
8. Give up it's fecked...
9. Disconnect vac line to MAP sensorat idle make sure engine picks up briefly then dies... through massive over fuelling
10. Take plugs out after 9. throw away, and put some nice new ones in..
11. If still shite, blame Venturi and give it a darn good kick for good measure, sell cheap on Ebay as now down graded, send over item number
12 If not sold and still shite, ask a friend for help and advice, or alternatively buy shares in plastic forks; find them under the forked index
13. because everybody needs one
14. Replace theTDC, this should probably been no. 2
15. Still reading?
16. Left with ecu and coil pack, both unlikely foobar, but possible...

Regards,
Martin

Don't have one of them Dave, the fuel tanks are mounted between the passenger cabin and the mid mounted engine. Thanks anyway. :up

On another car, this fault was a blocked fuel filter. Can you check fuel pressure easily on a venturi, that would tell you.
