Does anybody know what the Heritage pack consists of ?
I've noticed a little chrome strip on the bonnet, but if that's all it's about it looks awfully expensive ! :dizzy:

Just the strip on the bonnet and one on the bumper. Even the flying A badges on the front wings are an option once all the PEs are sold.

Well back from a weekend trip to Wales, the weather wasn’t the best but there were some brighter spells. I have managed to rack up 350 miles since I picked the car up on Thursday.

The engine is now starting to rev a little more freely but I will be taking it a bit easy for a while longer.
I used normal mode most of the time and used the paddles to override when needed.

I won’t go through the standard stuff everyone has read numerous times.

I had a test drive around Manchester, which whilst useful, didn’t adequately reveal the true character of the car. I have only really started to do that since getting on the B roads, there are some fantastic roads in Mid Wales I know very well and driving it on those roads gave me a true flavour of how this car really behaves.

I can honestly say I have never driven a car which covers the ground so quickly on minor roads, yet feels so totally assured and is not at all intimidating to drive, you feel so connected, adjusting the steering as you progress through a corner. If you need to you have so much scope to tighten your line on the corner without fear of dreaded understeer.

I cannot really fault the car and the attention you get is amazing. Within 1/4 mile of picking up the car a biker comes alongside peers across, gives us the big thumbs and roars off. I got let out at junctions, that wouldn’t happen in a Porsche.

Obervations:

Gears,
I have paddles on my other cars but I have never really used them, but I have found that to make good progress on a windy road you do have to change down using the paddles on the entry to a bend to make a progressive exit, leaving to do its own things left you bogged down waiting for the revs to pick up.
Probably less of an issue in sport mode but trying to keep the revs sensible I have resisted too much of this.

Engine Noise.
I found the engine note quite pleasant and not too obtrusive but I am not really much of a fan of the sound in Sport mode, particularly, the popping on the overrun, bit of a novelty but not really for me.

Interior Space;
I am 6’6” tall and I can comfortably fit in it and was perfectly ok after a 2 hour drive.

This car is a keeper, its a weekend car that will get used when I feel the need and its exactly what I have been looking for years, I can’t see myself selling it as there nothing out there that does what this can. Well done Alpine!

I think there are several of us who aren't keen on the overrun noise (flatulence) in Sport. I'm looking into disabling the Sports exhaust - and I can't think it's at all difficult. Just a case (I hope) of finding the fuse (in the engine compartment I imagine) and making that open circuit via a remote control . Any help most welcome.

Not sure if this post is in the right section, but I am considering placing an order for a Pure and was considering which options are necessary.
Do your comments about the sport exhaust mean that it would be best to order the standard non sport exhaust? This would negate the inconvenience of pulling out fuses, and of course save a not inconsiderable £1380!
Also, what do people think about the standard 17” wheels?

On Sunday morning I was at the Renault dealership in Manchester, at a Cars and Coffee event, to take another look at the PE and a first look at the Legende.
A conversation I had, initiated by Ian Duncalfe the Alpine Specialist in Manchester, was along the lines you're considering. I'm sure he'd be only too pleased to relate the opinions he has of the options to go for, even if Manchester isn't your local Alpine dealership.

Personally I'd give the sports exhaust a miss. But you will doubtless have the possibilty of listening. I thought the flatulence about town was embarrassing - but perhaps I'm a delicate flower. Re 17" wheels I know Alpine sources have said that they give the most entertaining handling The only downer is that you need 18" ones if you want the bigger brakes (which I find very impressive). That said the standard brakes really ought to be more than adequate unless you are going to track the car.

Looking more and more like the Standard Pure spec is more or less there then!
Maybe the mats and parking senors are all that are required In addition to the paint.

The idea of this car with 17 inch wheels is quite appealing. The car is so light I doubt the smaller brakes will be an issue. I'm quite certain on most roads in the UK the Pure spec will be a lot of fun. Given the car is not set up for the track, the Pure makes a lot of sense to me.

I'm not that keen on the exhaust sound in Sport either. I do like the turbo whistle though. By far the most annoying thing so far for me is the stop start. In some situations it stops completely and you have to press the red start button to get going again. Has anyone else had this issue?

I don't think a rear camera is needed if anyone is considering it. I'm living in central London and reverse parking isn't a problem with only sensors since the car is so small.

Nice!

I did Wales the week before whilst still running in. I enjoyed the chassis a lot but trying to manage the engine revs was challenging as there is such a narrow band of operation to keep under 3500 rpm. I gave up and just left it in Normal most of the time as well.

I was amazed by how refined it was on the motorway on the way back. It's a car of fascinating contradictions. Purist chassis and suspension but no manual gearbox. Lightweight minimalist ethos with little storage but capable long range cruiser.

It's nowhere near the perfect article which will be a shame for those who overlook it for these reasons.

If any visits a dealer with a pure or legende in stock could they please take some photos of the standard brakes. I am interested to see if they are still Brembo 4 pot calipers front and electric handbrake rear but just smaller with smaller discs. I have only ever seen the Blue PE brakes and there are no pictures of the standard ones in the brochures. Thanks

I think I would pass on the sports exhaust, the standard sound is quite pleasant enough.

I was originally planning a bare bones Pure and then when I looked at it there were quite a few items on the options list I rather wanted. The 17" don't look great to me and the Fuchs are lighter, also I wanted Alpine Blue which is £1600! on a Pure.
There are also quite a few bits of trim in the Premier missing from the Pure, individually they probably don't matter but added together it may look a bit bare. The Blue brake calipers I rather like for example and the aluminium pedals and footrest.

Whatever you decide, get the order in, you will not regret it one bit.
