Just for the record ....... as some of you know, I bought my Alp new, and part of the deal was that I could pick the car up from C.A.T. in Southampton .... Renault's import depot, with cars coming directly from the factory in Dieppe. The pick up date was the second week in December 1989 ..... the car being 1990 Model Year. (all travelling costs were at their expense
)
From the two pics below, you will notice that in both cases, the lower part of sills are Black ....... if you click on the pics, they will be magnified.
There is another advantage of having them Black ....... if they get chipped, you can touch them up with a black enamel paint with a brush ....... No having to get them sprayed and colour matched.
Also you will notice that one of the Alps is Yellow, so clearly that colour was available for a few Alps directly from the factory. The colour was not offered to me, but I was told that they were doing some in Yellow to test the market.
It might be interesting if someone with a Yellow GTA would check the colour code under the bonnet ....... that would most probably show if the colour has been changed since new or not.
