I dont think that the 10" on its own would be a big issue, but the engine is also 5" taller, so its the whole rear structure youre looking at as well as the bulkhead behind the rear seat and things like the window above the rear seat. This isnt even bringing into account the gearbox....presumably you will be running a different one??.....theres a whole issue there on its own. Then theres the extra weight...it may only be 20-30 kilos, but its all going to be hanging out the back!
If you were one of the people you see in magazines who build mad cars over numerous years I could see it happening......but youre looking to pay someone to do this for you....the worlds most expensive GTA springs to mind....and it may be a pig to drive at that!!!
If you are desperate to do this, I would suggest getting someone to make up a spaceframe to keep the integrity of the rear end, do away with the rear passenger space and take it off the road and have it as a competition only car.

If we're playing fantasy GTA engine then I'll opt for the 2.7 twin turbo from the Audi RS4 - 380 bhp in 'normal' tune.

At least dimension wise it would be an easier fit :lol:

How expensive are Z350 engines?

If you really want a 4 pot then 21 turbo. Not quite the same power but you know all the right people.....

The idea is to make a very powerful (far more than is easily achievable with a PRV) track car. The v8 engines I've mentioned have kits available off the shelf to mate them to a UN1 transaxle so there would be very little fabrication work involved. Yes I would need to have the gearbox re-built to take the power but thats got to be easier than cheaper than fabricating a full rear spaceframe to accomodate engine and box - no tunnel if you turn it round, gearlinkage etc. The height of the engine isn't necessarily a problem - not all the extra height maybe at the top, if you get what I mean and I'm happy to modify the bodywork within its original silihoutte.
I can switch back to plan A which was a budget twin turbo prv using 5gt turbo T2's but its never going to make even 350 bhp without lots and lots of money spent on it - but at least I could realistically have that done for the start of next season.

tony, gearbox rebuilt to take the torque from a V8 are very expensive, there is a site that (derek bell??) manufacture new main shafts to rid the UN1 of the weak point at the spigot shaft area.

would love to see an audi V6 engine and 6speed gearbox combo in the GTA........

There's a place in Wales that does uprated UNI boxes,on the wrong comp for to paste a link ,but they're around £800 ,with a LSD £1200 .
I really don't see the point tho .IMO you should get the best out of the original design/setup ,it's not a GTA if you put in a different engine so might as well get a kit car and do the job properly ..........ULTIMA :D
