Brake servo - ducducducduc - non return valve?

Postby darrenbiggs » Thu Jul 04, 2019 6:17 pm

Hello all.

Ok bit of a weird one this. I've got a strange knocking - ducducducduc - noise from what appears to be the brake servo.

Only happens when the brakes aren't applied (push the pedal and it stops) and seems to be only when the car is hot. Brakes aren't affected at all, they're working absolutely fine so no issues there, it's more just annoying. Seems intermittent as it's not always there.

Originally I thought it was the front fuel pump as there's not much in that area, it was only when I realised pressing the brake eliminated it that I pinned it down.

Bit of googling seems to show some stuff on one of the Lotus forums with an identical issue - non return valve on the servo not functioning properly.

So, any thoughts?
I'm just here for the gasoline.
